Is my credit information secure?

Shipping

How much will my shipping charges be?
Modern Lighting offers free ground shipping on all retail web lighting orders over $50, shipped within the continental U.S. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and internationally are available for an additional fee. Next Day Delivery is also available for an additional charge — the amount will be added to your order as you proceed to checkout, and will be determined by the state your order will ship to. Sorry, free shipping does not apply to mirrors or furniture.

Can Modern Lighting ship products internationally?
We can ship items internationally. Freight quotes will be done on a per order basis. Once we receive your order, we will determine the freight charges and notify you promptly. All freight & duty charges on international orders were the responsibility of the customer. You can also have us ship to a freight forwarder of your choosing.

Returns

What is Modern Lighting's return policy?
Returns may be made, but will require a valid RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number. RGA numbers may be requested online or by contacting customer service at (312) 229-7425 during business hours Monday through Friday 9 – 5 (CST). You will need to provide the following information:
  • Name & Full address
  • Order number
  • Items to be returned
  • Reason for return
Once a valid RGA number is received, the number must be written on the outside of all packages to be returned. Packages received without a valid RGA # referenced on the outside of the box will be returned to the shipper.

Please pay close attention to the following items:
  • Please check all your boxes as soon as you receive them. Modern Lighting cannot be responsible for any missing or damaged goods if we are not notified within 24 hours from time received.
  • Sale items are not eligible for returns. Defective sale products will be repaired or replaced at the company's discretion.
  • Returns for STOCK items will only be accepted within the first 30 days of receipt of goods. All returns must be accompanied by a sales receipt and be in original condition with original carton and packaging. If the item is not in original condition with all original packing, it will not be accepted. Non-Stocked Items returned within 30 days of receipt may have up to 50% restocking charge of the List Price.
  • We will credit your account within 3 business days once a return has been inspected and is determined to be valid.

Damage

What if my order was damaged during shipment?
Please inspect your merchandise immediately upon delivery, and report any damage to the company within 24 hours of receipt. Customer bears full responsibility for any damage not reported within this 24-hour period. We recommend hiring a qualified electrician to install your lighting fixtures. Modern Lighting is not responsible for any damage or defects due to faulty installation.

Repairs

Does Modern Lighting perform repairs on fixtures not covered under warranty?
Items not under warranty will be inspected to determine if they can be repaired. After inspection, you will be provided with the total cost to repair the fixture. This cost shall include labor, at $42 per hour, as well as all materials with one-hour minimum charge.

We will only perform repairs on fixtures that were purchased from Modern Lighting. Before returning an item to be repaired, please contact out customer service department for a valid RGA number. The same policies apply to items returned for repairs as noted above.

Price Match

What is Modern Lighting's Price Match Guarantee?
Modern Lighting wants you to be confident that you are receiving the best prices anywhere by shopping with us. If you find the same exact product advertised for less by one of our competitors within 30 days of your purchase, we will gladly match that price including shipping and handling.

Please note that our Price Match Guarantee applies only to the identical product from the same manufacturer. The competitor must be an authorized dealer of the product and it must be a stock item, available for shipment and not on extended back order. A website link or written quote from the competing vendor for the same product(s) shipped to the same address must be sent to Modern Lighting. Sales tax, shipping and handling will be factored in to determine final price. Price Match Guarantee does not apply to clearance items. Other restrictions may apply. Sales Tax

Do I have to pay sales tax on my purchase?
If you are located in the state of Illinois and do not have a resale tax ID number, then you will be charged sales tax on your purchase. If you are located outside of the state of Illinois, no sales tax will be charged.

Warranty

Do I have a warranty on my purchases?
All items — excluding bulbs — are offered with one year warranty. Any defective item that is returned within one year of purchase will be repaired or replaced at the company's discretion.

Repairs for items that are still under warranty will be covered at no charge. A copy of the sales receipt may be required if the sales transaction cannot be found in our computer system.
